Emerald Smith

Emerald is a service-driven healthcare administration leader with over 15 years of experience across clinical, administrative, and financial operations. Her background spans multiple specialties, including primary care, specialty practices and hospital-based health systems. She brings deep expertise in stabilizing revenue cycle operations, reducing accounts receivable, and improving claim accuracy through data-driven process improvement.

Prior to joining the University of Maryland College Park University Health Center, Emerald provided revenue cycle management oversight for practices across North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky, supporting operational efficiency and financial performance across diverse care settings.

Emerald is recognized for her ability to lead teams through periods of change, identify systemic challenges, and implement sustainable solutions that strengthen financial outcomes and cross-department collaboration. 

She is extremely passionate about advancing equitable healthcare access and reproductive justice, particularly within vulnerable populations. Emerald is excited to join the University of Maryland community and looks forward to supporting the health and well-being of its students and families.
