Christina (Cristi) M. Fernandes, MS

Cristi joins the Health Center as a Human Resources Generalist.  With more than 20 years of experience in recruitment and human resources, Cristi joins us with experience working in education, manufacturing, and aerospace industries. Her recent role as the Employment Manager at Howard Community College gave her a strong background in supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion work and managing change to support student success. Previously she spent several years working for The Boeing Company supporting employment activities for engineering and early career engineering programs, project management, legal & finance, and other engineering departments. 

At Boeing, she led and trained a team of virtual recruiters who worked across the US to support the global organization. Prior to that, she spent time working for a candle manufacturing company in Chandler, AZ as an HR Generalist where she managed employee relations for a 200-person plant and spearheaded a wide-ranging update to the employee handbook and benefit changes. Cristi holds a Masters of Science in Human Resources Management from American University and a Bachelors of Arts in Behavioral and Social Science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
