The University Health Center supports the experiential development and learning of student interns, peer educators, and volunteers.
Some students receive academic credit through their college/university for completing internships or serving as a peer educator while others, are encouraged/required to complete a specified number of service hours in order to place into competitive programs after graduation . Internships, peer programs and volunteer experience supports the development of highly competitive candidates for professional placements after graduation.

Student Health Care Assistant
Position Summary:
This position will assist with a variety of healthcare-related tasks on a part-time basis 10-20 hours per week during the UHC hours of operation 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. The UMD Health Center is looking for students who can provide exceptional support in the day-to-day operations by performing a wide range of patient-centered tasks to meet the healthcare needs of UMD’s students, faculty/staff, prospective students, and community members. The Student Healthcare Assistant is expected to perform vital signs for patients, prepare them for the visit with the provider, perform point-of-care testing, and other clinical tasks within the scope of their certification. This is an in person position, no remote work is available for this role.
