The Pharmacy is located in the main lobby of the University Health Center. We provide pharmacy services for students, faculty, staff, and their immediate family members. The Pharmacy also provides medication consultations upon request.

Before You Visit
Be sure to bring your prescription insurance information. You may bring the actual card or a photocopy of the front and back of your card. Please make sure that it is your prescription card and not the medical card. Prescription cards often have 'Rx' written on the card and will often have a BIN/PCN number listed on it. It is important to provide the Pharmacy staff with your prescription insurance information if you have not previously provided it.
- Prescriptions are filled in the order in which they are received; this includes those sent electronically by University Health Center providers.
- Please let the staff know that you are here and whether you will wait or come back later for your prescription.
- If you have just left a health provider’s office and arrived immediately at the Pharmacy, please enter the pharmacy line to speak with a technician and let them know you would like to wait and have your RX filled as quickly as possible.
- If your prescriber is sending the prescription electronically they can find our pharmacy by searching "Health Center Pharmacy" Our address is 3983 Campus Drive, College Park MD 20742.
Insurance & Payment
The pharmacy accepts many major prescription insurance plans such as but not limited to:
- SHIP or Student Health Insurance Plan

- OptumRx

The following payment methods are accepted at the Health Center Pharmacy:

- Student Account
- Flexible Spending Account card
- Credit/Debit (Visa, Discover, American Express, and Mastercard)
University Health Center patients are not required to use the University Health Center Pharmacy for prescriptions written by our providers.
Pharmacy Services
The pharmacy fills prescriptions from any (on- or off-campus) physician, dentist, or other medical provider. We accept prescriptions over the telephone and via fax directly from your provider's office, when legally permissible. At your request, the pharmacy can also call your provider's office for refills or new prescriptions and it can call other pharmacies to transfer your prescription(s) to our pharmacy.
A pharmacist is available to discuss your medication with you - it is important to communicate before you medicate.
Questions to ask when filling prescriptions or buying over-the-counter medications:
- How often do I take this medication?
- What is the proper way to store this medication?
- What do I do if I miss a dose?
- Will it interact with other medications I am taking?
- How do I take this medication - on an empty stomach, with food, or does it matter?
- Are there possible side-effects?

If you are calling the pharmacy outside of normal business hours, please leave a voicemail message and clearly provide the following information:
- Full Name and date of birth
- University ID number
- Prescription (RX) Number or name of the medication
- Date and time you would like your prescription to be ready
Over-the-Counter (OTC) medications/products are medications/products which do not require a prescription to be purchased. Examples of OTCs include Sudafed (psuedoephedrine), Tylenol (acetaminophen), Aleve (naproxen), cold and cough preparations, diabetic supplies, pregnancy tests, vitamins, and bandages etc.
The pharmacy carries a varied selection of OTCs for you to purchase at reasonable costs. The majority of OTC products that the pharmacy stocks are the generic products to help you save money. A generic product (acetaminophen) contains the same active ingredient(s) as a brandname product (Tylenol) but is less expensive. They are as effective as the brandname product. If there is a specific product that you would like but the pharmacy does not routinely stock, stop by or call 301.314.8167 to see if it can be special ordered for you.
The purchase of pseudoephedrine (Sudafed®) and pseudoephedrine-containing products requires a valid driver's license, passport, or other state- or federal-issued identification. There are no exceptions.
The pharmacy also offers free over-the-counter emergency contraception and pregnancy tests.
