The Physical Therapy Clinic at the University Health Center is an on-campus outpatient clinic that treats a range of musculoskeletal and sport-related conditions such as:

  • Pre and post-surgery rehabilitation (ACL, Rotator Cuff, Fractures, Meniscus, Achilles, etc)
  • Postural issues
  • Headaches, neck and back pain
  • Sprains and strains
  • Sports specific programs
  • Dry Needling and active recovery
  • Reconditioning for lingering long-term effect injuries or illnesses (e.g. long term covid)

To make your initial appointment, please call the appointment line at 301.314.8184

Please note: Physical Therapy appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours prior to the appointment time.  Appointments canceled less than 24 hours will be charged a No-show fee of $25.00. If you are late for your appointment, you may have to reschedule and pay the late fee.

Before You Visit

  • You will need a signed and dated Physical Therapy referral/prescription from a physician (MD, DO), physician assistant (PA), nurse practitioner (NP), dentist (DDS) or podiatrist (DPM).
  • If you do not have a referral, you may want to make an appointment with a medical provider in the Health Center or with your personal physician.
  • If your referral is past the 60 days since it was written, please call your doctor for an updated referral.

Your First Appointment

  • Arrive with enough time to check in at registration.

  • Any follow up appointment will be scheduled through UHC Registration.

Health Insurance

The physical therapy department is also currently in network with the PPO and EPO plans of Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. For any other health insurance company, we are currently working with them to accept their plan.  All charges are the patient’s responsibility. You should call the insurance company to determine whether UHC physical therapy services are eligible for reimbursement.  Upon request, we do provide a “Walk Out Statement” for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

For students covered by the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), charges are fully covered.
