Spyridon (Spiro) Marinopoulos, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.P.
Dr. Marinopoulos is the Director of the University Health Center, and the Chief Medical Officer of UMD. He holds B.A., M.B.A. and M.D. degrees, and a graduate certificate in Health Administration and Policy, from the University of Chicago. He did his residency training in Internal Medicine at the New York - Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then served for 2 decades on the Johns Hopkins full time medical school faculty in various roles - as a clinician, educator, and scholar, and as the Director of University Health Services at the medical campus before coming to UMD in 2021. Dr. Marinopoulos is an expert on health services delivery in college and university settings. While at Johns Hopkins, he established a highly successful Collaborative Care Model integrating primary care and mental health services for JHU learners. He currently holds faculty appointments in Health Policy and Management at the UMD School of Public Health and in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
