Purple Line Construction Updates:

December 20th, 2023 - January 7th, 2024

The construction will shift to the south side of Campus Drive between Regents Drive and Union Lane, with vehicular traffic switching to the north side of the Campus Drive roadway. This means construction activities will move closer to the UHC building, and vehicular traffic will move closer to Stamp. This closure will be similar to the closure over the summer (i.e., the road will be closed to general traffic, but emergency responders will have unrestricted access).

Below is a diagram of the changes during this time frame. Emergency vehicles can still access the red "closed" roadways, and regular traffic can access the blue "one-way" roadway. The vehicular traffic in the diagram will switch from westbound to eastbound during the construction. The Campus Drive/Union Lane/Library Lane intersection will not be closed, which means that the pedestrian detours in that area will be very similar to how they are today. Vehicles will still have access to the handicapped and Lot HC spaces on the blue roadway (from Prienkert Drive).

January 8th, 2024 - January 19th, 2024

Campus Drive will be closed between Union Lane and the Benjamin Building to complete the installation of overhead catenary system (OCS) foundations located in the roadway. Since this closure will occur while Campus Drive is closed between Regents Drive and Union Lane, Union Lane will be temporarily converted to a two-way street to mitigate operational impacts to buildings in this area. Emergency vehicles will have unrestricted access on Campus Drive between Regents Drive and Union Lane/Library Lane, while Campus Drive is closed west of Union Lane. The Campus Drive/Union Lane/Library Lane intersection will not be closed, which means that the pedestrian detours in that area will be very similar to how they are today. Vehicles will still have access to the handicapped and Lot HC spaces from Fieldhouse Drive and Union Lane.
