The HEAL Line and COVID-19 Information

What is the HEAL Line?

Updated: September 2025

The HEAL Line began as a phone, online chat, and text information line available for students or employees with questions related to a recent positive COVID test, exposure, or symptoms. Today, the HEAL Line's virtual assistant provides general UHC information by text and voice.

Podcast: Any Questions?

Why this podcast? Why these Topics?

We choose to highlight themes that aren't usually talked about in the wellness presentations that we deliver on campus. That's because a lot of wellness topics, and the topics we discuss in this podcast, may be a bit more nuanced, complex, or are sometimes difficult discussing in a short presentation or a group setting.

Students with Underlying Health Conditions

The University Health Center (UHC) is committed to supporting students with underlying medical conditions.

If you have an underlying medical condition or are immune-suppressed, we recommend that you visit UHC to connect with one of our providers, even if you have a primary care provider (PCP) or specialist at home. This allows you to have an ongoing relationship with a UHC provider in the event that medical issues come up and your PCP or specialist can’t be reached.

Parents and Families

Welcome to the University of Maryland community! Parents and families have an important role as students learn to take great care of themselves. We encourage parents to coach their students toward making wise health choices and through getting health care, when needed.
