Primary Care

The University Health Center’s Primary Care department offers general medical services including evaluation of non-emergency health conditions, routine physicals, and follow up appointments for chronic medical conditions. Primary care providers may refer you for blood work, x-ray, physical therapy or other ancillary services that are all offered within the Health Center as deemed necessary.  You can connect with professionals in the Behavioral Health Department for assistance with depression, anxiety and stress.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy services are available to all students, faculty, and staff members by appointment only. Our highly trained therapists offer a variety of services to help you on your healing journey to get you back to the activities that you enjoy the most.

Gender Affirming Healthcare

The University Health Center (UHC) operates on an Informed Consent Model for Gender Affirming Hormone care, also known as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). We use a multidisciplinary approach to provide comprehensive care to enhance the safety, success, and satisfaction for our patients.This requires all patients to take part in our three-step process which is designed to provide you with the best care and to help you meet your needs and goals during this process.

Immunization Clinic

The University of Maryland requires all students to complete the University Health Center Immunization Record Form and submit proof of immunizations in order to attend the University of Maryland and register for classes. The University Health Center offers routine immunizations such as MMR, Meningitis, Tetanus/Diphtheria, Tuberculosis skin testing, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Chicken Pox, and Flu vaccines. 

Laboratory

The Laboratory processes a wide variety of test requests from University Health Center providers and, for a nominal administrative fee, from non-University Health Center medical providers.  Some tests are performed in the laboratory and some are sent to designated reference laboratories.

Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA) Information

What is Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault? 

Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA) or attempted assault occurs when substances are used to decrease an individual’s ability to consent to sexual activity, sometimes without the person’s knowledge. Although many substances can be used in DFSA, the most common is alcohol. Alcohol may be used alone or in combination with other substances.

Behavioral Health Services

The Behavioral Health Service provides confidential services for registered UMD students including medication evaluation and management, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy.  We can also consult with the broader UMD campus community as needed.

Our team is staffed with licensed clinicians, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and psychotherapists who are available to assist with a variety of mental health conditions. 

International Travel Clinic

If you are traveling internationally, whether for research, study, or just for enjoyment, the University Health Center can help you prepare for a safe and healthy journey.

The UHC International Travel Clinic services are available to the UMD community including current students, spouses of students, faculty, staff, and their spouses.
