Light therapy, or phototherapy, is the use of specific devices to treat changes in mood that are especially common during the fall and winter months.
While typically used as a treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), or the “winter blues”, there is some evidence to suggest it might also be beneficial for people who experience low moods for other reasons. With regular use, most people who experience benefits do so within the first week or two.

About the UHC Peer Programs
Peer Programs are experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students at the University of Maryland. Peers specialize in different content areas and activities, but all are responsible for educating, serving, and improving the wellness of University of Maryland community members.
CARE to Stop Violence understands that the journey to healing for someone you care about will probably impact you. It is very common for others to feel overwhelmed, angry, powerless, frustrated and sometimes guilty. CARE can provide an opportunity for you to talk about your feelings in a safe and supportive environment. We are available to speak with you via email, phone or in-person.
