Dear Campus Community,
As the fall semester winds down, we have entered peak season for colds, flu and other respiratory illnesses. Flu cases have also begun to increase both locally and nationwide, and more people have visited the University Health Center (UHC) with the flu this week, primarily Influenza A. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that typically comes on suddenly with high fever, body aches, headache and cough.
Here are some ways to protect yourself and others:
Appointments
The Health Center operates primarily on an appointment-based system. We strongly encourage patients to make an appointment before they arrive.
Alumni and Visitors
The University Health Center primarily serves the University of Maryland population. Alumni and visitors are eligible to use some Health Center services.
Alumni and visitors are encouraged to make appointments with their own Primary Care Physician (PCP), especially for routine services and continuing care.
