Emergency and After Hours Care

Inclement Weather

The University Health Center’s hours may vary during weather-related campus closures. If the UHC is able to open during a campus closure event, then they will only be available for urgent visits and will operate with limited hours. If the UHC is unable to open, then some previously scheduled in-person visits will be converted to telemedicine visits (if possible). In addition, other appointments may be rescheduled or canceled in the event the UHC is unable to open during a campus closure event.

Campus Communications

December 12, 2025

Dear Campus Community,

As the fall semester winds down, we have entered peak season for colds, flu and other respiratory illnesses. Flu cases have also begun to increase both locally and nationwide, and more people have visited the University Health Center (UHC) with the flu this week, primarily Influenza A. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that typically comes on suddenly with high fever, body aches, headache and cough.

Here are some ways to protect yourself and others:

Appointments

The Health Center operates primarily on an appointment-based system. We strongly encourage patients to make an appointment before they arrive.

Alumni and Visitors

The University Health Center primarily serves the University of Maryland population. Alumni and visitors are eligible to use some Health Center services.

Alumni and visitors are encouraged to make appointments with their own Primary Care Physician (PCP), especially for routine services and continuing care.
