Mandatory Insurance and Waiver

Understanding the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) Requirement

Each academic year, the University requires that the following students either waive or enroll SHIP. The process for submitting your waiver/enrolling in SHIP for Spring 2026 will start on December 2nd.

If you enroll, the $2,806 annual premium is split between two semesters:

Fall: $1,176

Spring/Summer: $1,630

Occupational Health

Located on the ground floor of the Health Center, room 0106, the Occupational Health Unit provides a number of work-related services to employees. Services include pre-placement physical examinations, administration of work-related immunizations, Tuberculosis (tb) screening and testing, medical surveillance for hazardous material exposure and hearing conservation, Department of Transportation (DOT) certificates, and consultation and education on occupational health concerns. Occupational Health works closely with the

FSAP Events

The Faculty Staff Assistance Program offers monthly Lunch & Learn sessions. Thirty minute virtual workshops about a variety of topics pertaining to personal and work-related wellness. These are open to all staff and faculty in all departments. See below for details.

The Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is an assessment, referral, coaching, consultation and short-term counseling service available to all full and part-time employees of the University of Maryland.  Since 1988, we have worked with thousands of employees to address a variety of work-related conflicts and personal issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship and family conflicts, as well as medical, legal and financial concerns.
