CARE team members are highly skilled and thoroughly trained to provide FREE programming for members of the campus community. 

Educational Workshops

Request a Workshop

CARE Peer Educators, Step UP! Educators, and staff members lead interactive educational workshops. These workshops are available to classrooms, student organizations, Greek organizations, residence halls, and departments, off-campus establishments, and more.

Workshops delivered by Peer Educators include: The C Word is ConsentDon’t Turn Red Flags Pink, and Step UP! Bystander Intervention Training. CARE staff can provide these workshops as well as custom workshops. The duration of each workshop ranges from 50 minutes to one hour.

  • The C Word is Consent: This workshop deconstructs common rape myths and establishes a comprehensive understanding of consent, coercion, and victim-blaming.
  • Don’t Turn Red Flags Pink: Audience members learn to define relationship violence, identify elements of power and control, and understand the cycle of violence. Attendees will leave this workshop with a better understanding of how to support loved ones who are impacted by relationship violence.
  • Step UP! Bystander Intervention: Step UP! empowers audience members with the awareness skills and tools to help prevent harmful situations from occurring or escalating on our campus.

Two weeks' notice is required for listed workshops and three weeks' notice is required for custom workshop requests. 

Outreach Presentations

CARE staff can present CARE 101 and How to Help a Survivor to the campus community. 

  • CARE 101: This presentation covers the role and purpose of CARE, the definition of power-based violence, confidential versus non-confidential resources, and how to contact our office. CARE 101 presentations can last either 15 or 30 minutes. 30-minute presentations include an overview of the best practices for responding to a survivor's disclosure of power-based violence.
  • How to Help a Survivor: This 45-minute presentation covers how disclosures of power-based violence may present, strategies for responding to a disclosure, and more in-depth information about various forms of power-based violence. 

Two weeks' notice is required for listed presentations and three weeks' notice is required for custom presentation requests.

Self-CARE Creative Space

Request Self-CARE Creative Space

Self-CARE Creative Space (SCCS) is a group activity designed to explore power-based violence, healthy relationships, social wellness, and other topics through creative expression. 

Fast facts:

  • SCCS lasts 1.5 hours. 
  • CARE staff guides participants in an engaging 30 minute overview of the requested topic. 
  • The remaining time is used for guided reflection on the topic through art. 
  • Facilitators strive to create a relaxing environment where participants can ‘slow down’ and de-stress

Community members can request a “Healthy Relationships & You” SCCS through our request form.

CARE can work with your group to host a customized program about a topic of your choice; past programs have included Rooted in Self-Love, Healthy Relationships & You, Loving & Protecting Black Women and more.

Three weeks notice is required for Self-CARE Creative Space requests.

Custom CARE in Conversation

Request a Custom CARE in Conversation Dialogue

CARE staff can lead customized CARE in Conversation dialogues for student organizations, sororities, fraternities, teams, groups and other campus communities on topics related to sexual and relationship violence.

Conversations are student driven, last 1.5 hours and are ideal for groups of 10 or less. Facilitators will create a space that empowers community members to discuss sensitive topics.

  • Caring for Survivors and Ourselves 
  • Healthy Relationships 
  • Power-Based Violence in Pop-Culture 
  • The Red Zone 
  • Alcohol and Sexual Assault 
  • Gender-Based Violence 
  • Anti-Racism and Sexual Assault, and more.

CARE Peer Programs

CARE offers three Peer Programs that current undergraduate students can take part in:

  • Peer Advocacy
  • Peer Education
  • Peer Outreach

Details about these programs and application information is located on our Peer Programs page. Applications for the 2027-2028 academic year will open in January 2028.

Violence Intervention Ambassador (VIA) Training

The VIA program is a 11 hour, four session training that will equip you with tools to recognize, respond to, and prevent power-based violence on our campus, and in our world. 

Completion of the VIA program will provide you with a VIA Certification, volunteer and leadership opportunities with CARE, bystander intervention skills and a community of students passionate about this issue. The training will cover topics including interpersonal and systemic violence, bystander intervention, supporting a survivor, social change, student activism, and self-care. 

All undergraduate and graduate students are welcome. 

Fall 2026 Sessions:

  1. Friday, October 23, 1-4:30 p.m.
  2. Wednesday, October 28, 5-7 p.m.
  3. Friday, November 6, 1-4:30 p.m.
  4. Thursday, November 12, 5-7 p.m.
