Join Health Promotion & Wellness Services at the University Health Center for our first annual Wellness Week, Monday, April 4th through Sunday, April 10th.
We’ve curated an array of events to highlight the many services we offer each semester. Throughout the week we’ll also be celebrating National Public Health Week 2022.

Monday, April 4th
Any Questions?: Prescription Stimulant Misuse | 8:00am
Kick off Wellness Week by tuning into the newest episode of the UHC peer-led podcast, "Any Questions?" where Demi and Jerry dive into how prescription stimulant misuse (i.e. Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse) impacts students’ personal and academic wellness. Wags for Wellness | 11:00am-1:00pm
Wags for Wellness is the University of Maryland’s signature pet therapy program, offering drop-in visits several times a month. Join us in launching Wellness Week with a visit from our furry friends at the Student Involvement Suite at the Stamp Student Union from 11:00am - 1:00pm.
Message Card Meditation | 3:00pm - 3:15pm (virtual)
In this virtual meditation practice, participants will receive an intention to focus on using a card with a special word or message on it. This meditation is great for folks who like some structure and/or guidance in their meditation routine!
Tuesday, April 5th
Breathwork | 9:30am-9:45am (virtual)
In this practice, you will be guided through various breathing techniques to promote relaxation and stress relief.
Free Walk-In STI Testing Clinic* | 9:30am-12:30pm
Did you know that half of all new diagnoses are among people ages 15-24? Know your status and take advantage of this free resource provided by the University Health Center! Appointments for today are free, walk-in, and first come first served. Please check-in on the ground floor of the University Health Center.
*Please Note: This option is only available to those not experiencing symptoms, as there is no physical examination.
Labyrinth Walk | 12:00pm - 12:30pm
Labyrinths have been used since the Middle-Ages as a contemplative tool. Join our Mental Health and Stress Management Program Coordinator, Olivia Mays, as she guides you through a walking meditation through the Chapel Memorial Garden’s very own Labyrinth.
Settle into Sleep Meditation for Students | 9:00pm - 9:30pm (virtual)
This virtual meditation and sleep story practice will help you wind down for the evening and set you up for a restful night's sleep.

Stop by the Health Center’s Wellness and Recovery Drop-In Space, located on the ground floor of the University Health Center, for a delicious morning mocktail and meet other students in recovery at UMD, plus learn more about getting involved with the Terps for Recovery student group!
HPWS Resource Tabling at the Pride Month Exhibition | 11:00am-2:00pm
April is LGBTQ+ Pride Month month on campus, and for this year's celebration features a health and wellness exhibition. Stop by to visit with Health Promotion & Wellness Services, along with a number of campus partners dedicated to health and wellness offerings. Located in the Stamp Atrium.
HPWS Resource Tabling at the Farmers Market | 11:00am-3:00pm
April 6 marks the opening day for the spring season of the Farmers Market. Stop by Tawes Plaza. Stop by to visit with Health Promotion & Wellness Services to learn more about campus wellness resources. You will also be able to explore producer-only local vendors from within 250 miles of College Park.
Community Meditation | 12:30pm-1:00pm (virtual)
This mid-week guided virtual meditation is an opportunity for students, staff, and faculty to join together as a community, pause, and focus on the present moment. Sessions may include breathing practices, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, and more.

What's the Tea? | 12:00pm-2:00pm
Join folks from the UMD Arboretum and Botanical Garden, the Campus Pantry, and Health Promotion and Wellness Services for an afternoon tea where you can learn more about the benefits of herbal tea, try new flavors, and leave with your own samplers! The event will take place in the Campus Pantry teaching kitchen. The Campus Pantry is located on the ground floor of the South Campus Dining building, 7093 Preinkert Drive, Campus Drive, College Park, MD 20742.

Mental Health First Aid (Sunday) | 10:00am-5:00pm
Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour national certification course that is designed to teach the layperson the skills to recognize the signs of a mental health or substance use disorder crisis, identify community resources, and link individuals in need of treatment and support to the proper resources. Raise Your Voice: Sunset Yoga | Monday, April 4th | 5:00pm
Raise Your Voice to support survivors and join us for a free SUNSET yoga practice led by RecWell instructors on McKeldin Mall April 4th. Visit at go.umd.edu/RYVsunsetyoga to complete the consent form and claim your free RYV yoga mat! Yoga will begin promptly at 6PM. Come by starting at 5PM to sign-in, get your yoga mat and chat with members of the Sexual Assault Prevention Committee.
Courageous Conversations: Sexual and Domestic Violence Throught the Public Health Lens | Tuesday, April 5th | 5:00pm-6:00pm
This PSA GBM presented by the Student Health Advisory Committee in collaboration with CARE to Stop Violence will delve into sexual and domestic violence awareness and prevention through a public health lens. Community Learning Garden Work Hours
The Community Learning Garden (CLG) is a living classroom that educates visitors on the “importance of environmental stewardship, agricultural sustainability, physical activity and eating a balanced diet,” as well as issues surrounding community, public, and environmental health. To get involved with the garden, members of the community can attend work hours to help with pruning, planting, weeding, planning, watering, and harvesting. If you’re looking for some garden fun, join the Community Learning Garden Student Group for their spring working hours on Mondays and Thursdays from 3-4pm or Saturdays from 10-11am!
